Alicka is a professional co-author and ghost writer, primarily of nonfiction, and a once-in-a-while translator of Czech fiction. Concurrently, Alicka serves as a contributing editor at The Laurus Project.
An active yoga practitioner, Alicka is interested in meditation, mindfulness and the power of positive thinking. Stories of determination and resilience resonate with her on a personal level. When her parents arrived in the U.S., her father saw the chance to pursue a childhood dream. As a nuclear physicist from behind the Iron Curtain, he had many options. Instead, already in his thirties and with a young family, he went back to school at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, and spent the rest of his life studying the sea. While her father’s story is a good one (an oceanographer from a landlocked country), what really stands out is that dedication to personal goals can bring a deep sense of purpose and happiness.
Alicka began her publishing career in the foreign rights department at the talent agency ICM. She was foreign rights director– traveling to the Frankfurt and London Book Fairs each year– and agent at the Nicholas Ellison Agency. Along the way, she has edited and collaborated with many high profile, bestselling and talented authors.
Recently, Alicka has worked on projects such as Breathe: The Simple, Revolutionary, 14-Day Program to Improve Your Mental and Physical Health by Dr. Belisa Vranich, (St. Martin’s Press, 2016), The New Superpower for Women: Trust Your Intuition, Predict Dangerous Situations and Defend Yourself from the Unthinkable by Steve Kardian (Simon & Schuster, 2017) and is currently under contract with Penguin Publishers for a title about the power of education. Alicka has a B.A. in Linguistics from UCSD and an M.A. in Translation from the University of Salford, UK. She lives in New York City.
